Glory to Lord Ganesh, the Divine Son of Goddess Girija, the cause of all auspiciousness and intelligence. Ayodha Dass (the composer of these verses) humbly requests that everyone be blessed with the boon of being fearless.

॥ Chaupai ॥

O Glorious Lord, consort of Parvati, You are supremely merciful. You always bestow blessings upon the poor and devout. Your radiant form is adorned with the moon on Your forehead, and Your ears bear earrings made from snakes’ hoods.

The sacred Ganges flows from Your matted hair, captivating saints and sages with Your magnificent appearance. A garland of skulls graces Your neck, white ash enhances Your divine form, and a lion’s skin adorns Your body.

O Lord, the beloved daughter of Maina on Your left complements Your majestic presence. O Wearer of the lion’s skin, the trishul in Your hand annihilates all adversaries.

Nandi and Shri Ganesh, alongside You, Lord Shiva, appear as beautiful as lotuses amidst an ocean. Poets and philosophers are unable to fully capture the splendor of Lord Kartikeya and the dark-complexioned Ganas (attendants).

O Lord, whenever the Deities humbly sought Your aid, You graciously resolved their troubles. When the demon Tarak tormented them, You destroyed him with Your mighty power. || 10

O Lord, You sent Shadanan without hesitation to eliminate the evil ones Lava and Nimesh. You also vanquished the demon Jalandhara, and Your fame spreads across the entire world.

O Lord Purari, You saved the Deities and mankind by defeating the demons Tripurasura. You blessed Your devotee Bhagirath, enabling him to fulfill his vow through rigorous penance.

O Gracious One, Your devotees forever sing Your praises. Even the Vedas cannot adequately describe Your greatness, for no one is as generous as You.

When the ocean was churned and deadly poison emerged, out of boundless compassion, You consumed it to save the world, turning Your throat blue. Thus, You are known as Nilakantha.

When Lord Rama worshipped You, He triumphed over the demon king Ravan. To test Shri Ram’s devotion, the Divine Mother, at Your request, hid the thousand lotus flowers meant for His worship. || 20

O Lord, You watched as Shri Ram prepared to offer His lotus-like eyes to honor You. Witnessing His profound devotion, You were delighted and granted His heart’s desire.

Glory be to You, O Gracious, Infinite, Immortal, All-pervading Lord. Tormented by evil thoughts, I wander aimlessly in this world of suffering, finding no solace.

O Lord, I earnestly seek Your divine help and blessings. Protect me, destroy my enemies with Your Trishul, and free me from the torment of these evil thoughts.

When I am in distress, neither my family nor loved ones can ease my suffering. I place my hope solely in You. Eliminate the root of my torment and shower me with Your compassion.

O Lord, You uplift the downtrodden, grant wisdom to the ignorant, and forgive those who fail to worship You due to their limited understanding. Please forgive my shortcomings and bestow Your grace upon me. || 30

O Lord Shankar, destroyer of all miseries, You remove obstacles and grant eternal bliss to Your devotees. Saints and sages meditate upon Your resplendent form, and celestial beings like Sharad and Narad bow to You in reverence.

O Lord, I bow to You. Even Brahma cannot adequately describe Your greatness. Those who recite these verses with faith and devotion are blessed by Your infinite grace.

Devotees who chant these verses with love and reverence prosper by Lord Shiva’s mercy. Even the childless are blessed with children after partaking in Shiva-prasad with faith.

On Trayodashi, the 13th day of the lunar fortnight, one should invite a pandit and offer devotions to Lord Shiva. Those who fast and pray to Lord Shiva on Trayodashi enjoy health and prosperity.

Whoever offers incense, prasad, and performs arti to Lord Shiva with love and devotion attains material joy and spiritual bliss, ultimately reaching Lord Shiva’s divine abode. The poet prays that Lord Shiva removes all suffering and grants eternal bliss to all. || 40
